about 1 oz. 3 or 4 ply yarn
2 size seven single pointed knitting needles
tapestry needle
about 1 yard ¼” wide ribbon
Gauge:
30 sts = 6.5”
11 rows = 1.5”
Directions in brackets are for slightly heavier yarn, such as a homespun yarn
Leaving about 12' yarn to sew up the bottom of the bootie, cast on 30 (26) sts.
Knit 11 (9) rows.
Bind off 6 (5) sts at the beginning of the next row. Knit remaining sts.
Bind off 6 (5) sts at the beginning of the row. Knit remaining sts. 18 (16) sts.
Work K1, P1 ribbing for four rows. (Note: More rows of ribbing may be worked if desired)
Eyelet Row – *K2tog, yo*. Repeat ** across row, ending with K2tog. 17 (15) sts.
Knit 1 row.
Bind off loosely…leaving about 12” yarn to sew up front of bootie. Fold bootie in half and sew. Turn sewn side to inside of bootie. Thread ¼” ribbon through the eyelets and tie in bow. |
