Burping Pads

Materials: Patterns for burping pad and quilting design (bear or heart)
Terry Cloth fabric (old towels...kitchen or bath towels; bleached and then washed in baby detergent)
Cotton fabric (old scraps of fabric of any design suitable for a baby) (If fabric needs washing, use baby detergent)
  Sewing thread to match

Directions:
1.
On wrong side of cotton fabric, trace burping pad pattern (hourglass or butterfly).
2.
Pin right side of cotton fabric to right side of terry cloth. Sew fabrics together having stitches follow along the traced pattern, leaving an opening of about 3-4" to turn the burping pad.
3.
Cut fabric along edges, about ¼" outside stitching.
4.
Cut notches along stitched edge of burping pad around curves.
5.
Turn burping pad right side out. Fold in unsewed edge and match fabric to terry cloth edge. Stitch opening closed, close to the edge.
6.
Stitch around entire edge of burping pad about 1/8" from the outer edge...sewing paper burping pad label to the margin.
7.
Press.
8.
With a pencil, lightly trace heart or bear shaped pattern onto each end of the burping pad.
9.
Sewing about 15 stitches/inch, sew along penciled design.
